I believe that the authors interperation in the poem "You" is that the things that the author says in the peom remind him of the person that are thinking of. He/she is possibly recalling memories that they have had with a certain person or that each thing they say reminds them of who "You" is like.+

compromise of 1850- was an intricate package of five bills, passed in September 1850, defusing a four-year confrontation between the slave states of the South and the free states of the North that arose following the Mexican-American War

compromise of 1877- 1.The removal of all Federal troops from the former Confederate States. (Troops remained in only Louisiana, South Carolina, and Florida, but the Compromise finalized the process.)


2.The appointment of at least one Southern Democrat to Hayes's cabinet. (David M. Key of Tennessee became Postmaster General.) Hayes had already promised this.

3.The construction of another transcontinental railroad using the Texas and Pacific in the South (this had been part of the "Scott Plan," proposed by Thomas A. Scott, which initiated the process that led to the final compromise).

4.Legislation to help industrialize the South.
 
Great Compromise- large states and small states, senate based on equality.

Accepting who one is shows gratitude for being born into this world. Changing who one is for the benefit of others is displaying a sense of ungratefulness and lack of self confidence. Why not be proud of who you are? Who is to say he or she is nobody just because his or her skin tone? The person who says it is exposing himself or herself as a hypocrite unworthy of someones presence.
